Unlock the Secrets to Exceptional Home Dental Care. Your roadmap to a healthier, brighter smile starts right in the comfort of your home.

Understanding Home Dental Care
Home Dental Care is not just about brushing and flossing; it’s an integrated approach to maintaining your oral health. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s essential to have a dental routine that’s both effective and efficient.
For many, Home Dental Care serves as the first line of defense against common dental issues like cavities, gum diseases, and plaque buildup. It’s the daily practices and habits that lay the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles. From the type of toothbrush you use to the techniques you employ, every little detail matters.
At Thomas Dentistry, we believe that a robust home care routine complements regular dental check-ups. Together, they form a holistic approach to oral health. Our team is dedicated to educating and guiding patients, ensuring they have all the tools and knowledge to take care of their teeth and gums at home. After all, a radiant smile begins with the care you give it every day.
Best Home Dental Care Practices
When it comes to Home Dental Care, not all routines are created equal. It’s crucial to know the best practices that can keep your oral health in top shape. At Thomas Dentistry, we’ve compiled a list of the most effective home dental care routines that are both easy to follow and highly effective.
The first step is choosing the right tools. A soft-bristled toothbrush is generally recommended for most people, as it is less abrasive on the gums and enamel. Toothpaste with fluoride is also a must-have. Don’t forget to replace your toothbrush every three months or sooner if the bristles are frayed.
Flossing is another critical component that many people overlook. It’s not just about removing food particles; flossing also helps to get rid of plaque that forms between the teeth. Here are some key points to remember:
- Brush Twice a Day: Morning and night, for at least two minutes each.
- Floss Daily: Preferably before bedtime to remove the day’s buildup.
- Use Mouthwash: Opt for an alcohol-free mouthwash to maintain a balanced pH.
- Regular Tongue Cleaning: Use a tongue scraper or your toothbrush.
- Eat a Balanced Diet: Limit sugary foods and drinks.
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
By incorporating these practices into your daily routine, you’re not just investing in your oral health but also contributing to your overall well-being. After all, a healthy mouth is a gateway to a healthy body.

Happy Client from Mercer Island Office
“I did not have a dentist in the Seattle area and choose Thomas Dentistry because they were close and nearby. Boy, did I strike gold! I hadn't been to the dentist in a while and I needed some work done to get clearance for a other medical procedure. They were so great in getting me set up and expediting my treatments. Everyone was very professional and friendly. I can highly recommend them for your dental work.”

“I love coming here & I’m always greeted with smiles. It truly makes me feel great that the staff remembers my name & even though I visit every six months for my cleanings, our conversations pick up right where we left off. Marna, Rosie & Dr. Thomas are THEE BEST! I’d leave ten stars if I could.”

“Really enjoyed my experience here for a teeth whitening. The Kirkland location is great; it’s close to the freeway so it’s easy to find, and there was designated parking for patients. The staff (I’m talking from front desk to assistants to the doctor) were all very friendly and extremely efficient. I was talked through what they were doing so I felt at ease the entire time.”

“Best dentist I’ve ever been to. Not only are they prompt and quick but they walk you through your care clearly and explain the how’s and why’s. For once if feels like having an office that has a comprehensive plan for me rather than me checking a box every year. The hygienists are empowered to spend time with you and even book appointments with them right in the chair. Could not recommend more.”

“I just recently transferred over to Thomas Dentistry and I’ve had two appointments so far, which I have had positive experiences with. The front desk is very friendly and accommodating, and they let you know about costs up front. I’ve had two different hygienists and they both have been good and thorough. I saw Dr. Jaswal both times and he has a very calm demeanor which puts you at ease. He also has a good sense of humor. Thomas Dentistry takes the unpleasantness out of going to the dentist!”

“Such a wonderful dentist's office! The staff is always welcoming, efficient, and they do a great job with my oral care. The other day I had a tooth brush bristle stuck in between two of my teeth and needed to come in for a minute visit. They got me in that day and were able to remove the bristle. It was such a relief! Going to the dentist can somethings be uncomfortable, but at Thomas Dentistry I always feel taken care of.”

“Everyone is very kind from the start. I have high anxiety dealing with my teeth and dentists; and everyone was incredibly helpful and informative! I'm really happy I found this place for my smile needs!”
Elaina Sh
Happy Client from Kirkland Office
“Went to that office last year to get a crown on implant and Dr. Thomas did the ugliest crown possible. Shape and height looked completely different from natural tooth I had in that place before. He did not even try to fix it. This year my new dentist confirmed that the crown should have been done completely different but now Im stuck with this crown for a while because it will cost a ton to re-do it since that is a dental implant crown, not just a regular crown. I guess I missed the first red flag when they said they do root canals and extractions too. Of course, why even going to roots canals specialists and oral surgeons if You can get a “buffet of services” at Dr. Thomas! Also Molly at the front desk is the rudest receptionist I ve even seen, billing office could not get the numbers right and overcharged me for about $800 then refunded but can this office be more unprofessional and thirsty for money?!!”
Nelda Pettit
Happy Client from Mercer Island Office
“I have been a patient of Dr. Thomas since he began his practice. He is thorough in his exams, and professional in his treatments. He has done root canals, implants, and crowns for me, and the results have always been very good.”
Ankita Joshi
Happy Client from Kirkland Office
“Dr. Thomas is great. Very friendly and takes time to address your concerns. The staff is very helpful as well.”
Vanessa Hoffman
Happy Client from Kirkland Office
“This was my first dental visit and I must say they were definitely unorganized as their X-ray machine kept freezing the images delaying my appointment and they’re not put together. The manager Carmen told me I was going to have to pay a $70 balance. Which I completely agreed on no problem. I got a bill for $140 and was never told I had a $50 co-pay on top & they don’t use silver filling so I had to pay extra for a white filling. I was not told about any of these extra charges. The manager Carmen hung up on me over the phone without trying to fully explain everything and was very rude to me. I would not recommend this dentist because they are not truthful and they want you to pay double your bill so please be careful.”
Mary Berry
Happy Client from Kirkland Office
“Very incompetent doctor dr. Thomas is after money. Don't believe anything he is saying. Other doctors are all recent college graduates with no experience. Don't trust them. Get a second opinion or just go some place else get your teeth done.”
Nicholas Smith
Happy Client from Kirkland Office
“Clean, friendly, and on time. Their staff took very good care of my teeth and were always very pleasant. Definitely recommend Thomas Dentistry!”

Happy Client from Mercer Island Office
“I just started going here this year after bouncing around different dentist for years and have had a great experience each visit. I have had everything from cleaning, fillings, root canal, crown and they have all gone well. The office is nice, conveniently located and has off street parking. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Jaswal is excellent, takes his time not only with his work but explaining what you have going on, your options etc. Overall only good things to say about this place and definitely recommend it.”

Unlocking the Benefits of Comprehensive Home Dental Care
When it comes to maintaining a radiant smile and robust oral health, home dental care is your first line of defense. It’s not just about keeping your teeth clean; it’s about establishing a regimen that safeguards your entire mouth.
Key Benefits of Home Dental Care:
Prevents Tooth Decay: Brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and flossing daily are essential steps in removing plaque and food particles. This proactive approach significantly lowers the risk of developing cavities and tooth decay, which are common dental issues that can lead to more severe problems if neglected.
Gum Health: Consistent oral care, including the use of antiseptic mouthwash, can stave off gum diseases like gingivitis and periodontitis. These conditions can lead to tooth loss if not addressed, making your home dental care routine a crucial aspect of gum health.
Fresh Breath: A clean mouth is a fresh-smelling mouth. Regular brushing and the use of mouthwash can eliminate bacteria that cause bad breath, ensuring that you’re always ready to make a great impression.
Cost-Effective: Preventive care at home, when done correctly, can significantly reduce the need for expensive dental treatments in the future. This makes your toothbrush and dental floss powerful tools in saving money in the long run.
Convenience: The beauty of home dental care is that it fits into your schedule. Whether you’re an early riser or a night owl, you can maintain your oral health at your convenience, without the need for frequent trips to the dentist.
Boosts Overall Health: Research has shown that poor oral health can be linked to systemic issues like heart disease and diabetes. By maintaining a healthy mouth, you’re also taking steps to keep your entire body healthy.
By diligently following a home dental care routine, you’re not merely maintaining your oral health; you’re also investing in a comprehensive wellness plan that benefits every aspect of your life.
