Dr. Gina Lightner, DMD, comes to Washington state from Boston, Massachusetts, and brings her extensive post-doctoral training, private practice experience, and positive enthusiasm to her service of the patients of Thomas Dentistry- Mercer Island!

Dr. Lightner completed her undergraduate studies at Rice University, where she earned a B.A. in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Medicine and a B.A. in Philosophy, before going on to earn her DMD Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. During her time at Tufts Dental, Dr. Lightner was not only recognized on the Dean’s list for her academic achievements, but also inducted into the Honus Civicus Society for her exceptional commitment to and action in community service and civic engagement.

Dr. Lightner went on to complete a residency at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, New York City, where she served as first-call for the Mount Sinai Emergency Department on the Upper East Side as an on-call member of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery team, responding to extensive dental emergencies ranging from infections to complex facial trauma. There, she also received advanced training in digital dentistry, aesthetic dentistry, Invisalign orthodontics, and implant dentistry in various private, community, and hospital clinics across New York City, while completing rotations in anesthesiology, pediatric dentistry, and medically advanced dentistry, alongside her medical and surgical colleagues.

Dr.Lightner then began her career in private practice in downtown Boston, where she served working professionals, families, and long-time residents of Boston and Cambridge as a general and cosmetic dentist for years. During this time, she has continued to expand upon her knowledge and skillset through post-doctoral training through esteemed institutions such as the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Lightner is beyond excited for the opportunity to provide exceptional, comprehensive, and customized dental care to all her patients in the warm and comfortable environment of Thomas Dentistry- Mercer Island.
